God's ways are different than human ways.  God is forgiving and rewards everyone who is willing to work in the same way.  The reward is everlasting life.

Every adult Christian is required to take the principals of the Lord, Jesus Christ and apply them to changing circumstances.  We cannot think that we have, at one time, learned all that we need to learn.  The Canaanite woman's faith was stronger than cultural prejudices.  Jesus complimented her for her strong faith.

Does summer's heat, winter's cold, perfect weather, or vacations interfere with God's commands?  Faithfulness to God, or to anyone else, is fulltime, all the time.  As we are enduring this extreme heat, does it change you?

How things can go wrong when you put in your best effort!  One thing that we always have to take into account is that other people are involved in finished products.  At times, they take shortcuts or do not follow the instructions that they have received because they wish to save money.  Other times people do not wish that you succeed.  I take this from the Gospel passage in which Jesus says often an enemy sows the wrong seeds in the fields that we have planted.

The feast that we celebrate this weekend, The Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, emphasizes the fact of not only the Incarnation when Jesus was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but also to be Christian is to be solidly grounded on this earth.  Spirituality apart from humanity is escapism.  We celebrate the fact of the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ ever time we have Eucharist.  The Lord gives us His Body and Blood to sustain us.

God's Spirit.  We sometimes believe that we can do things on our own without any help from God.  But the actual fact be known, we cannot even do bad things without God's presence.  We, each of us, is totally dependent upon God for our life and everything.  God gives us His presence freely and all He asks is that we use it wisely.

The Feast of the Ascension - it is important to get it right.  Jesus is not going so that He will be gone, He is going so that He can send the Spirit.

Joy, happiness and celebration are part of the Easter mystery.  If these are not present in whatever we do, ought to do, or are required to do we will drop Christianity when it becomes convenient.  This is not only true with Christianity, but it also is true with all the other things in life.  And so I say "Rejoice, the Lord is Risen!".

The Lord Jesus Christ proclaims that He is the shepherd and the gate through which all enter eternal life.  Today our own culture, and the world culture, proclaim self determination and individual choice.  Basically, every person does what they feel and believe is the right action.  You can easily see the problem when the Lord Jesus Christ says "I am the shepherd, and you are called to follow me" because the shepherd determines everything and the sheep follow.  The conflict in ways of action are obvious.

The Easter season is a time for great hopes.  Hope for everlasting life with God trumps anything or reality that we might have.  Rejoice with the knowledge of the Easter reality.

Any kind of news, good or bad, takes time for us to realize what has actually happened.  We can see this in Jesus Christ's resurrection.  The disciples could not grasp the fullness without time for reflection.

The Lord is Risen and He is alive.  This has made all the difference in the life of the world and it has changed how we live and act.  Rejoice and be glad that you know of the Lord's Resurrection.

The readings speak to us about belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.  In today's reading, Martha, the sister of Lazarus, told Jesus "I believe".  That meant that she lived the commands that the Lord required.  It is good for us to look at how we live and to see what is it that we believe in.

Dehydration is very dangerous, for often the person who has it does not recognize it.  In the begininning of dehydration, the remedy can only be to drink a little more water.  At the end, medical intervention is necessary for rehydration.  The Gospel reading tells us that sin works exactly the same when we fail to recognize that we are sinners.

Christianity began with Jesus' death and resurrection.  The Paschal Mystery, this cannot be taken out of any christian living or reality.  The transfiguraton allowed the three disciples to see Jesus' glory, but to stay there in that place, with only that understanding, destroys the incarnation and the fact that we, too, will have to undergo difficulties and trials.

It would be very presumptious if we thought, or if I thought, that I am not tempted in the way that Jesus was tempted.  This Gospel passage invites us to identify areas in the three ways that Jesus was tempted. How am I tempted today?

When someone talks to us we never get it all.  We might get the intellectual content or the emotions spoken, and even possibly the overtones.  We have to be very careful when we read sacred scripture that we don't limit what the Lord says, but that we continue to search for the fullness of its meaning.

Jesus wants us to be the way we were created to the image and likeness of God.  His commands today show us how radical that is.  Anything else is from the Devil.
